Privacy & Data Sovereignty

This policy explains how we handle the digital traces you leave in our garden. We do not “monetize” you. We do not “harvest” you. We simply maintain the soil so you can grow.

1. The Core Principle: Data Sovereignty

In this Hub, you are a peer, not a product.

  • Ownership: Your posts, ideas, and artifacts belong to you. We provide the infrastructure to host them, but we do not claim ownership of your intellectual labor.
  • Portability: You have the right to export your data at any time. If you decide to leave the garden, you can take your seeds with you.

2. What We Collect (The Essentials)

We only collect what is mechanically necessary for the Hub to function:

  • Account Data: Your email address (to verify you’re human and send notifications) and your username.
  • Interaction Data: Your posts, likes, and bookmarks. This is the “public work” of the garden.
  • Technical Traces: Your IP address and browser type. We use these only for security (keeping out bots/attackers) and to ensure the site actually loads on your device.

3. How We Use Cookies

We use “Essential Cookies” only. These are tiny bits of data that keep you logged in and remember your preferences (like Dark Mode). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party “spyware.”

4. Gardeners & Records

While there is no official moderation staff, community members with sufficient trust levels can be seen as Gardeners with the tools to tend to the community needs.

  • Logs: For the safety of the collective, we keep secure logs of administrative actions (like name changes or group additions) to ensure transparency in how the garden is managed.

  • Flagging: If a post is flagged, Gardeners can see the content to determine if and what tending it requires.

5. The Fence & The Robots (AI Scraping)

The UnPlayable Hub is an open garden. This means:

  • Our Stance: We do not sell your data to AI companies, and we do not use your posts to train models.

  • The Reality of the Web: Because this is a public space, we cannot technically prevent all automated “scraping” by third-party bots. We use standard protocols (robots.txt) to tell AI crawlers to stay away, but we cannot guarantee their compliance.

6. Third-Party “Backyards”

The Hub runs on Discourse software hosted on an Oracle server.

  • We do not sell or trade your data to advertisers.
  • If you use external links, you are leaving our garden and entering someone else’s. Be mindful.

7. Your Rights (The GDPR Standard)

Regardless of where you live, we respect the highest global standards for data rights:

  • Right to Access: You can see everything we know about you in your user profile.
  • Right to Erasure: You can request the deletion of your account. We will anonymize your posts (so the conversations remain coherent) and purge your personal identifiers.
  • Right to Correction: You can change your data at any time via your settings.
